We are the only tertiary paediatric anaesthetic department in Western Australia and we deliver approximately 11,000 general anaesthetics per year. We are staffed by 25 consultants, 14 technicians, 2 fellows, 6 registrars, a pain nurse and 2 clerical assistants and we regularly welcome visitors from other parts of the world.

The Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at PMH provides

• anaesthetic services for all children's surgery at PMH
• anaesthetic services for all children's diagnostic imaging
• a sedation service for the hospital
• a 24-hr/day acute pain management service
• a 24-hr/day acute trauma service
• anaesthetic services to specific children requiring anaesthesia in Perth 's adult tertiary hospitals

The department is also accredited for training purposes by The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) and the associated Faculty of Pain Medicine.
